Should I eat 2200 calories to lose weight?

I do 40 mintues on the elliptical 3 times a week and calorie calculators online say I should eat 2200 calories to burn 1 week off. I am 20 years old, 5'4 and 222 pounds. 2200 doesn't seem much. Now I've been eating about 1300 calories daily and the weight loss has been very slow. Will up the calories that much help me or hurt me? actually eat slightly smaller portions throughout the day. i really just eat small portions throughout the day.

I disagree with the first poster. I think your exercise regimen is not bad. However, you must weightlifting. Increases muscle, which burns more calories. Losing weight faster. Furthermore, eating around 1500. If you can make 1300 you can to 1500. But spread it more evenly to keep your metabolism up. My guess is that probably are eating 1300 or so in 1-2 sessions and thats keep your metabolism so low that your body goes into "starvation mode" and you arent losing weight. So I lift weights, eat distributed.
